By mass, the most common element on earth, Iron (Fe) has shaped the destiny of human civilization since the Iron Age. Although it is commonly found in the outer and inner core of the earth, it takes ingenuity to mine it, extract it, form it and shape it to use as the inner core of construction.

Shri Tirupati Steel Cast (STSCL) has undertaken the journey to turn earth into Fe 550 Star Ribbed Rebars. The professional team at STSCL has over 30 years of experience in mastering the art of producing steel.

Established in 2010, STSCL has now used their innovative spirit to create the Star-X Ribbed TMT rebar or Fe 550 standard to provide the construction industry with unmatched bonding with concrete, high tensile strength and ductility under the brand name President TMT.

Produced at Hidupur (near Bengaluru), the fully automated, state-of-the-art factory with a capacity of 120,000 TPA, President TMT (Fe 550) is the preferred brand of discerning builders and contractors across the country, with a wider footprint in South India.

The Power Of Thermex
Technology

STSCL has adopted the world standard in quenching and self-tempering (QST) technology from H&K GmbH to produce superior quality TMT rebars. Through the Thermex process, an intensive and very precise in-line quenching is imparted to the rolled bar and this results in a hardened periphery. On further atmospheric cooling of the bar, heat exchange takes place between the core and cooled outside surface of the bar - resulting in a distinct tempered martensite at the periphery and a fine-grained ferrite-pearlite structure in the central zone. This imparts exceptional tensile strength to the rebar. Even SAIL uses Thermex technology for its Durgapur and Bhilai Steel Plants.

Precise Ribs For Better Bonding

STSCL has the latest CNC cutting machines that ensure even spaced and precise rib cutting that provides better bonding strength with concrete. In addition, it ensures that load distribution will be uniform across the entire length of the TMT bar, making the structure stronger.

Stringent Quality Control

The chemical composition of the billets (raw material for TMT rebars) is checked with precision spectrometers while consistent quality of TMT rebars is ensured from batch to batch by testing TMT rebars for physical and chemical properties, using a Universal Testing Machine, using pre-defined and random sample testing throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Soft Water For Quenching

STSCL ensures that the water used for quenching of billets during the hot rolling process is free from dissolved impurities that make the water hard and deposits impurities on the surface of the TMT rebars. These impurities accelerate the oxidation process while the use of soft water without dissolved minerals, gives President TMT a longer life. Which is why STSCL has set up a water softener plant within its manufacturing facility to ensure a constant supply of demineralized water for quenching of hot rolled billets in the production of President TMT.
